OMX Iceland 15

OMX Iceland 15 (former name ICEX 15) is a share index of the joint stock exchange NASDAQ OMX Group, which contains the 15 most important and most actively traded companies in Iceland. The proportion of individual stocks on OMXI 15 depends on the respective market capitalization of the company.

The equity index launched under the name ICEX 15 on 1 January 1998 at 1,000 points, reaching on 18 July 2007, the highest level in its history: 9016.48 points (as of 23 January 2008).

Since the merger of ICEX with the OMX on 30 November 2006, the ICEX 15 is continued by the OMX under the same conditions under the name OMX Iceland 15.

During the financial crisis OMX Iceland suffered 15 in 2008 at a large loss. On October 14, 2008, the index fell by more than 70 % ( -2300 points) to a record low of 630 points.
