On-U Sound Records

On-U Sound Records is a British record label, which is considered one of the most important European dub and reggae label.

History

On- U Sound was founded in the early 1980s by Adrian Sherwood and his then-wife Kishi Yamamoto and its partners Pete Holdsworth, Lizard, Tony Phillips and Martin Harrison.

The first release was a 7 " split single of the bands New Age Steppers ( Fade Away ) and London Underground ( Learn A Language).

Among the most important artists included not only the New Age Steppers especially African Head Charge, Audio Active, Bim Sherman, Dub Syndicate, Gary Clail, Little Annie, Mark Stewart and the Maffia, Singers & Players and Tackhead.
