Onigiri

Onigiri (Japanese御 握り) are seasoned Japanese rice balls. The seasoning mix, furikake, is available in different flavors such as fish, vegetables, etc.

Often Onigiri also be filled with different kinds of fish ( fresh or dried), vegetables or fruit like plums leavened. They usually have a triangular shape and are often wrapped in nori seaweed.

Onigiri are a popular snack. They are available in most Japanese convenience stores and grocery stores in many varieties. In addition, some shops, called Onigiri -ya, specializing in the production of handmade rice balls. As a traditional take-away or fast food, they are more popular than about sushi in Japan.
