OpenMicroBlogging

OStatus (original name of the project: Open microblogging) is an open protocol, decentralized communicate with each other via the micro - blogging services. The individual open microblogging services communicate this via the OAuth and Yadis protocols with each other, so that it is possible for the user, messages of other services to subscribe.

History

The open microblogging specification was released on June 7, 2008 by Evan Prodromou, the developer of the free reference implementation StatusNet (formerly Laconica ) and operator of the platform based on Identi.ca. Also, the service and Leo Laporte Today Mama Connect Twit Army use Laconica.

Since March 2009, the search for user accounts on Identi.ca at Twit Army. It is possible messages from users on Twit Army on an account on Identi.ca to subscribe. Since April 2009, there Floss.pro, another service, which is also based on Laconica.

Another implementation of the open microblogging protocol is the Open Software Micro Blogger.

Since March 2010, the project under the name OStatus will continue. The protocol is now wholly or partly of Google Buzz, StatusNet ( service: Identi.ca ), WordPress.com and Tumblr have been implemented.
