Opéra de Montréal

The Opéra de Montréal is an opera company based in the Canadian city of Montreal. The performances will take place primarily at the Cultural Place des Arts.

The opera company was founded in 1980 by the Ministry of Culture of the Province of Québec. It replaced the Opéra du Québec, that existed from 1971 to 1975. The Opéra de Montréal has set itself the goal, in particular to encourage young singers, conductors, directors and designers from Quebec as well as introduce in training singers to a wider audience. A special feature brief appearances in Metro stations. As a resident orchestra Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre Métropolitain and the alternate.
