Operation Slapstick

Operation Slapstick was the code name for the Allied operation to occupation of Italian naval base of Taranto. On September 9, 1943, the Allied cruisers Association of Bizerta Coming landed the 1st British Airborne Division in Taranto. No resistance. In the harbor the British minelayer Abdiel fell on a thrown on the eve of German S- boats at sail mine barrier (149 deaths).
