Band History

The beginnings

Singer and guitarist Amandah Wilkinson, drummer Tim Commandeur, keyboardist Sarah Gardiner, bassist Ashley McConnell and violinist Stephanie Joske came in 2005 at a Battle of the Bands competition at the Elanora State High School, where they went to school together. After they won this competition, they produced their first independent EP called On the Prowl and completed performances in smaller pubs and clubs. Their second EP Cement Cement achieved its first success through word of mouth, so that their first single Crash Tragic on Australian youth radio station Triple J was played in heavy rotation. After a few months they got a record deal from Virgin / EMI Records in Australia and in England they signed with indie label glasses Records.

The first single under a major label was Just A Song About Ping Pong, this appeared on 28 July 2007 and reached number 12 in the Australian singles charts. The accompanying music video was played by many music channels and passed through the promotion on the home pages of MySpace and YouTube and outside of Australia hearing. The breakthrough in the United Kingdom reached the band when she performed in August 2007 at the Reading Festival and Leeds Festival. In the UK indie singles chart, the single managed thus to No. 10 on 21 June 2008, the band performed at the Hurricane Festival, and so increased their popularity in Germany.

Yes Yes Vindictive

After two more singles named Get What You Want and Leave It Alone, was released on November 10, 2007 in Australia and on 17 March 2008 in the United Kingdom, the first album Yes Yes Vindictive in the record stores. The album was recorded in The Grove Studios in New South Wales in Central Coast, Australia with the English producer Simon Barnicott. In the Australian album charts, it rose to number 28.

In Germany, the album was released on March 14, 2008.

Operator Please were hired as the opening act for the Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs at their Australian tours. In the spring and summer of 2008 stood at appointments in Asia, Australia and Europe, where they have occurred for the second time in Germany. Among other things in the Hurricane Festival and Southside Festival.

Sarah Gardiner left the band in April 2008. Since she had not participated in the past two months at concerts, the other members decided to take them out of the band.

The fourth single from the album Yes Yes Vindictive called Two For My Seconds appeared 21 June 2008, the music video was filmed mid-April 2008 in Sydney, Australia. In the Australian singles chart she joined solely by Downloads on place 93 on July 7, 2008.
