Opisthion

Opisthion is an anatomical term for the posterior ( dorsal) center of the occipital hole ( foramen magnum ) at the skull base. It is used as an anatomical landmark for measurements on the skull. For example, the depth of the cerebellar tonsils in Chiari malformation is determined by reference to a line between basion and opisthion.
