Opperzau (North Rhine -Westphalia) and Oppertsau ( Rhineland -Palatinate )

Opperzau is a district of the municipality Windeck in the Rhein-Sieg -Kreis.

Location

Opperzau is located northeast of the community Windeck, right on the victory and near a wooded area. Together with the Rhineland-Palatinate Oppertsau forms Opperzau a composite hänges settlement area.

To the east of the Bellinger river forms the boundary of the municipality.

The border in the village

A 200 meter long piece of state roads 112/267, the Opperzau ( Windeck ) and Oppertsau ( Fürthen ) separates, represents not only the municipal boundary, but also the international border between North Rhine -Westphalia and Rhineland- Palatinate. In addition, the road leads for each page its own street name: Victory Road for the Oppertsauer page, Fürthener road for the Opperzauer page.

Despite running through the village border there are common activities and associations, such as the Citizens' Association Opperzau / Oppertsau. Due to the local division of the disputed sovereignty of the 13th century, which were only resolved by clarifying the Siegburger comparison in 1604. By separating the middle of the place and the different spellings often leads to confusion for local residents.

Traffic

Opperzau is located on the country roads 112 and 267 until 1994, it was on the victory path ( Siegen- Cologne) also set a breakpoint, which was however abandoned due to the low frequentation. The only public transport links consist of the bus lines 260, 262 and 263, but they are geared only for school transport. They are operated by the local bus company Wilhelm Marenbach.
