Opuntia rastrera is a flowering plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). The specific epithet rastrera means lat. rastrum hoe, Karst; hack -like '.

Description

Opuntia rastrera growing shrubby and creeping along the ground. The round to reverse- egg-shaped drive sections form long chains of up to 20 centimeters in diameter. From the areoles heights are several whitish, darker at the base of spines that are up to 4 inches long. The glochids are yellow.

The flowers are yellow, the fruits obovate and purple.

Systematics and distribution

Opuntia rastrera is common in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí. The first description was published in 1898 by Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber. Little is known about the type.
