Orange (New South Wales)

Orange is a city in the Australian state of New South Wales, about 250 kilometers west of Sydney. The population is about 35,000.

Among the most important industries in the city include, inter alia, the mining. The cultivation of fruit plays an important role, mainly apples, pears, cherries and peaches grown. 1851 resulted in the first discovery of gold in Australia for the first Australian gold rush in the nearby town of Ophir.

The city is located on an important main road to Sydney and is a railway junction. The main route leads to Sydney, one to Dubbo and Molong after another. In Molong, the track splits again: a route to Dubbo and a different direction Adelaide.

Orange is the center and the administrative seat of the local administrative area in Orange City.
