The Orange Polska S. A. is a provider of telecommunications and the largest provider of fixed telephony in Poland. Since April 16, 2012 the hitherto Telekomunikacja Polska SA Distributed (TP or TP SA) products marketed under the Orange brand.

History

TPSA was founded in 1991 with the separation of the state enterprise for postal and telephony Polska Polish Post, Telegraph i phone. The company took over the phone according to the business infrastructure and possessed a monopoly in the telephone market. Previously, a plan for the company had been worked out. It includes the modernization of the international network, the development of the fixed network and the expansion and modernization of the local networks. The latter especially for business customers and the Warsaw area. The network, which decreed in 1990 over 3.2 million lines should be extended to ten to twelve million, which corresponds to a level of 28 to 35 lines per 100 inhabitants. Furthermore, the waiting time should be shortened for a telephone connection to two weeks, until then, the waiting time was twelve years. As early as 1991 a switching center for international calls was put into operation in Warsaw, which had 3,750 channels; previously were two exchanges in operation with a total of only 1,690 channels. In 1992 the capacity was increased to 7,500 in Warsaw and Poznan taken in an exchange with 1500 channels in operation. The separation of the company from the post office and formally by the state was partly inadequate. So Telekomunikacja Polska 1992, the Polish Post ( Polish Post ) had converted about 60 million U.S. dollars for loss compensation. At the same time Telekomunikacja Polska was enacted income tax liability by that amount. In 1993, a switching center for international calls with 1500 channels was put into operation in Katowice. In the year, the company realized a gain equivalent to 385.6 million U.S. dollars, representing an operating margin of about 27 percent. By 1996, the State in whose possession the company was been since represented by the Communications Minister, the Minister of Finance. The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications was, therefore, at least formally, free from conflict of interest, which results from the exercise of market regulation by the Ministry. As of 1998, the privatization of the company began selling 30 percent of the shares, of which 15 percent were issued to the stock market and the remaining half to employees. In July 2000, 25 percent of the shares in the consortium ' France Telecom located in the state-owned - sold Kulczyk Holding. In December 2000, there were 10.233 million subscribers - and 93 percent of total subscribers - customers of TPSA. In September 2001, the consortium acquired France Telecom - Kulczyk Holding an additional 12.5 percent of the shares. End of 2002, the statutory monopoly on international calls Telekomunikacja Polska ran out. In 2012, Orange became the main brand of the company. On 31 December 2013, the company TP SA, PTK Ertel and Orange Polska sp. z o.o. about Orange Polska S. A. together.
