Orbiting Geophysical Observatory

As Orbiting Geophysical Observatory ( OGO ) was designated for geophysical investigations, a series of six American Earth satellite. The satellite weighed 487-588 kg were cuboidal, had two solar boom and equipped with several measurement instruments antennas from two to 90 feet in length. They examined including the solar wind, ultraviolet and X-ray radiation from the sun, particle radiation from the intergalactic space, long-wave radio frequency radiation from galaxies, meteorites frequency, the zodiacal light, the ionosphere, the upper atmosphere, the Van Allen radiation belts and magnetic fields in interplanetary space and in the magnetosphere.
