Order of Manitoba

The Order of Manitoba is a civil order of merit in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The award was introduced on 4 July 1999, is awarded civilians that are noticed by special services. Each year, no more than eight persons are awarded with this Order. The Lieutenant Governor gets it automatically at the swearing and is at the same time during his tenure Chancellor of the Order.

Structure and appointment

With the Order of Manitoba are current or former long -term residents of Manitoba are excellent, have excelled in a particular area by a high level of performance and success, and have promoted the social, cultural and economic well-being of the province and its inhabitants. The nomination process, suitable persons to be searched with the begins with suggestions of the public to the Secretariat of Religious Advisory Council. This consists of the President of the Supreme Court of the province, the government secretary, the president of the University of Manitoba, Brandon University and the University of Winnipeg ( which is every two years, alternately ) and not more than four members of the Order, one of those as Chairman acts. The Order Board shall meet at least once annually and makes recommendations to the Lieutenant Governor from. Posthumous nominations are not permitted, but a deceased person can be honored if her name has already been proposed to the Order Advisory Board. The Lieutenant Governor, who is an ex officio member and Chancellor of the Order of the Advisory Council, announces the appointment with a known transfer, sealed with the Great Seal of the province. Insignia

After admission into the Order, members receive in a ceremony at Government House in Winnipeg the insignia of the Order presented. The main emblem of the Order is a gold medallion in the shape of a stylized crocus, the official flower of the province. The side is made of white enamel with gold edging and bears in the middle of the escutcheon of the arms of Manitoba, surmounted by the crown as a symbol of Edwards role of the Canadian monarch as a source of honor. The band consists of vertical strips of red, blue, and white. Men wear appended to the Order of the collar at the end of the tape, women wear it on a loop at the left chest. For less formal occasions, members receive a lapel pin.
