Order of Merit of Schleswig-Holstein

The Merit of the State of Schleswig -Holstein was created as the highest Merit of the State of Schleswig -Holstein after the presentation of the Prime Minister Peter Harry Carstensen in 2008. The Order was first awarded at the Schleswig- Holstein - day on July 12 in Neumünster to eleven people.

The religious character has the shape of a red cross with concave wings and silver edge and carries a stylized coat of arms on the front. It is worn on a blue ribbon on the left upper chest.

The previous highest award of the country, in 1978, donated Schleswig -Holstein - medal goes to the new Order of Merit. The decree provides that carriers of Schleswig -Holstein - medal are also owners of Merit automatically.
