Order of the Cross of the Eagle

The Order of the Eagle Cross (Estonian Kotkaristi teenetemärk ) is a state of Merit of the Republic of Estonia.

History

The Order of the Eagle Cross 1928 launched by the Defence League, the Home Guard Association of the Estonian Defence Forces, the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Estonia to life. With the entry into force of the Order of the Estonian law on October 7, 1936, he was a state of Merit of the Republic of Estonia.

Award

The Eagle Cross Medal is awarded by the Estonians and foreigners Estonian President for Estonian Independence Day in February of each year. It recognizes achievements in the military field and the defense of the Republic of Estonia.

The Order of Merit is awarded today in eight medals stages: in five basic steps ( I as the highest level) and as a medal (gold, silver and bronze). All religious versions carry the eagle, the emblem of the Defence League, as a basic motif.

  • Medal of Merit   gold

Statistics

Between 1995 and 2008, the Eagle Cross Medal was awarded a total of 937 times.
