Order of the Hop

The Order of the hops, also called Flanders Hoopoes Hoopoes north or north, was a ( Dutch ) Knights.

It was donated by John, Duke of Burgundy, in the year 1411 (1400) shortly after the takeover of the county of Flanders as an inheritance. The occasion was the ceremony of hop cultivation, was an important economic support. The citizens should be given a reason for admiration of the Duke. For Duke, it was the love for the country and for beer. Despite all efforts, the Order was never a real Knights. Abroad, people ridiculed the Order as beer orders. The Duke was Vortrinker and it was a ducal drinking Gambrinus Company.

A Traditional religious character was the ducal coat of arms on the shield in the middle was a black Flemish lion and everything depended on hops tendrils of a golden chain. The religious motto was " ego sileo " about: " I am silent "
