Order of the Norwegian Lion

The Order of the Norwegian Lion and was founded on January 21, 1904 on the occasion of his 75th birthday of King Oscar II of Norway. It consisted only of a class, the number of holders was limited to 12 members and has only been awarded to the following persons:

  • Crown Prince Gustaf of Sweden and Norway on January 21, 1904
  • Prince Carl of Sweden and Norway on January 21, 1904
  • Prince Eugene of Sweden and Norway on January 21, 1904
  • Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden and Norway on January 21, 1904
  • Prince Wilhelm of Sweden and Norway on January 21, 1904
  • Prince Erik of Sweden and Norway on January 21, 1904
  • Kaiser Wilhelm II on January 27, 1904
  • Emperor Franz Joseph I on April 5, 1904
  • King Christian IX. of Denmark on September 10, 1904
  • Émile Loubet, President of the French Republic on December 1, 1904

The king was Grand Master of the Order. After the dissolution of the union with Sweden in 1905, the order was not awarded.
