Order of the Rose

The Order of the Rose or Rose North, was a Brazilian civil and military Order of Merit, which was founded on October 17, 1829 by Emperor Pedro I of Brazil on the occasion of his marriage to Amélie of Leuchtenberg. The Order was awarded to foreigners. The Emperor was Grand Master.

Order decoration

The religious character is a white enamelled golden six-armed star with golden middle plate. The front of the locket has the initials PA (Peter and Amalie ) and is wearing a dark blue ring bearing the inscription Amor e Fidelidade surrounded.

The Medallion is white and blue as front surrounds. Inside are the numbers 2 8 in 1829 and in the ring Pedro Amelia. The arms of the star are connected with a wreath of roses.

Carrying method

The first class was the religious character of a Collane formed from enamelled roses and small labels. For this purpose a separate star, ( religious sign is located on a golden serrated plate ) with enameled green crown worn on the chest. The second class was the big band with breast star of the award and the III. the cross and the star without crown. Commanders wore the star with a crown, the cross around his neck as a neck order. All without crown officers wore both in his buttonhole and the Knights of the Order only with a crown in his buttonhole.

The ribbon is pink with two white stripes.
