Orio al Serio

Orio al Serio is a municipality in the province of Bergamo in the Italian region of Lombardy 1762 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Orio al Serio is located 4 km southeast of the provincial capital of Bergamo and 45 km northeast of the city of Milan.

The neighboring municipalities are Azzano San Paolo, Bergamo, Grassobbio, Seriate and Zanica.

Traffic

The municipal area is the Bergamo airport.

Attractions

• The parish church of San Giorgio dates from the 16th century. It was restored several times in the following years. It was originally dedicated to Santa Maria.

• The Palazzo Malliani was built in the 18th century.

• The medieval tower was originally part of a fortress from the Middle Ages. It is built of stone and measures approximately 25 meters.
