Reached its peak since then the decline in population, with just over 30,000 residents in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

History

The name Orly goes back to the Latin name Aureliacum and indicates the origin of the place from a Roman foundation. In 829 the town was recorded as early as the Chapter of Notre -Dame in Paris.

In 1346 the British Orly besieged for three months, while the population entrenched in the church tower.

Since the early 1930s, Orly is joined by his school for pilot training with the history of civil aviation; this school goes back to a suggestion of the French aviation pioneer Maryse Bastié. This connection to aviation, which is also by the Paris-Orly Airport, is in the arms of the municipality with its five stylized aircraft in silver angle on a blue background expression.

Attractions

The restored church of Saint- Germain -de- Paris was built in the 12th century. The church tower was partially destroyed during the English siege in the 14th century and no longer completely rebuilt.
