The Orne is a river in north-western France, in the region of Basse -Normandie. It rises in the hills of the Perche, in the municipality of Aunou -sur- Orne, at about 190 meters above sea level, drained generally northwest and flows by 170 kilometers at Ouistreham in the English Channel. Defined by hills and cliffs valley is also known as Norman Switzerland. On their way the Orne crosses the department Orne, for which it is also named, and Calvados.
