Óró sé do bheatha abhaile

Oró, Sé do Bheatha ' Bhaile ( Irish language [ ɔɾ ˠ o ː ː d ɕe ˠ ə v ʲ ahə wal ʲ ə ] ) is a traditional Irish protest song.

Part of the song goes back to the time of the reign of Elizabeth I in the 16th century. Beginning of the 20th century was the version still in use today.

A first version of the song was written during the struggle of the support of the Irish Jacobites against the English king. The song is dedicated to the struggle of the Irish pirate and national heroine Grace O'Malley against British rule. She and her name stand for Ireland and its struggle for freedom. The text also alludes to the tradition of bringing home the bride after the wedding. Later, the nationalist poet Patrick Pearse added it to other verses. As a result, it was sung by members and supporters of the IRA during the Easter Rising and the Irish War of Independence. Since 1916 it is also known under the name ' Dord na bhFiann ( Call of the fighters ).

The song was sung by well-known artists such as The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, The Dubliners, Noel McLoughlin, The Cassidys, The Wolfe Tones, The Duggan, Sinéad O'Connor and Cruachan. Also in the film The Wind That Shakes the Barley, the song is sung by the rebels.
