Osasco is a city in Brazil in the state of São Paulo. It is located in the west of the metropolitan region of São Paulo and has 637 617 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

The city has an area of ​​65 km ². Neighboring cities are São Paulo to the east, Taboão da Serra in the south, Cotia Carapicuíba, Barueri and Santana de Parnaíba in the West.

History

Osasco was by Italian immigrants Antonio Agu (1845-1909) founded in the 19th century, who came from the same place Osasco in the province of Turin. Originally AGU has bought a large farm with his partner Baron Dimitri Sensaud de Lavaud ( 1882-1947 ). Dimitri Sensaud de Lavaud was a Spanish immigrant with French and Russian origin. By plane " São Paulo " Sensaud de Lavaud is first flown in Latin America on January 7, 1910.

Many immigrants from Europe sought their fortune in Osasco.
