Oscar Han

Oscar Han ( born December 3, 1891 in Bucharest, † February 17, 1976 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian writer and sculptor.

Life and work

Oscar Han studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest at Dimitrie Paciurea and Frederic Storck. His style is considered to be strong and dynamic. He had several group exhibitions and solo exhibitions in Bucharest, but also presented in international nations frame; or in Venice, Paris, The Hague, Amsterdam and Barcelona. Together with other artists such as Camil Ressu, Nicolae Darascu, Ştefan Dimitrescu, Iosif Iser, Marius Bunescu, Dimitrie Paciurea, Cornel Medrea and Ion Jalea he founded in 1917 in Iaşi, the artists' association Arta Română ( " Romanian Art "). Since 1926, Han was with the painters Nicolae Tonitza, Francisc Sirato and Ştefan Dimitrescu member of the Romanian artist group Grupul Arcelor Patru ( in German: " Group of Four "), a famous Romanian Prostestgruppe against the rigid standards of rigid academic art concepts.
