Oscar Murillo (artist)

Oscar Murillo ( born 1986 in Colombia) is an artist residing in London.

Life

Murillo grew up in the small Colombian town of La Paila. There Murillo 's parents worked in a candy factory and a sugar mill. When he was eleven years old, the family left Colombia and moved, as some relatives before them, to London. In order to finance his art studies Murillo worked in London as a cleaner. In 2007, he received his bachelor's degree from the University of Westminster. 2012 was followed by the Master of the Royal College of Art

Work

Murillo 's work includes, inter alia, Painting, sculpture, installation and performance. Many of his paintings are large format and contain fragments of text. Often elements of South American culture will find ( food, music, language, etc. ) feed into the work of Murillo.
