Oscar Olivera

Oscar Olivera Foronda ( born January 10, 1955 in Oruro ) is a Bolivian union leaders, human rights and environmental activist. He was a leader of the protests against the privatization of water in Bolivia. Later, he was a leader of the protests against the privatization of the gas supply in Bolivia.

Oscar Olivera is a member of the " water coordination " of Cochabamba. The union leaders became known in 2000 through the " water war" by the U.S. company Bechtel Corporation was forced to withdraw from the drinking water supply of the Bolivian city of Cochabamba.

Olivera comes in the published in 2006 by director Florian Opitz documentary film The Big Sellout.
