Oscarshall

Oskar Hall ( Academy Hall ) is a castle located on the Bygdøy peninsula, a suburb of Oslo in Norway. The castle was built in the years 1847-1852 by the Danish architect Johan Henrik Nebelong for the then Norwegian king Oscar I. However, already in 1863 it was transferred by his son, Charles IV to the Norwegian State which administers it for the Norwegian royal family.

The castle is regarded as the most important neo-Gothic secular buildings in Norway. The architecture is inspired by the style of neo-Gothic castles of England this time. The interior was designed by local craftsmen and artists.

After three years of restoration, the castle is open to the public again since the early summer of 2009 and can be visited during the summer months. In its halls cultural events and concerts.
