Oshima Subprefecture

Oshima (Japanese渡 岛 総 合 振兴 局, Oshima- sogo - Shinko - kyoku ) is a sub-prefecture of Hokkaido Prefecture. It has an area of ​​3936.08 km ² and a population of 456,300 (as of 31 August 2005).

Geography

The sub-prefecture Oshima extends across the eastern part of the Oshima peninsula - the western part belongs to the sub-prefecture Hiyama.

History

The sub-prefecture Oshima (渡 岛 支 庁, Oshima- shicho ) was established in 1897.

In the reorganization of Hokkaidō April 1, 2010 it was renamed in Oshima - sogo - Shinko - kyoku.

  • On 1 April 2005, the cities of Sawara and Mori joined in the district Kayabe together for new city Mori.
  • On 1 October 2005, the cities Kumaishi Yamakoshi included in the district of Nishi in the sub-prefecture Hiyama and Yakumo in the district of the new city Yakumo also in the newly created district Futami together. The urban area of ​​Kumaishi was thereby added to the sub-prefecture Oshima.
  • On 1 February 2006, the cities Kamiiso Hokuto included in the district Kamiiso and Ōno district Kameda together to the new city.
