Oshima Subprefecture
Oshima (Japanese渡 岛 総 合 振兴 局, Oshima- sogo - Shinko - kyoku ) is a sub-prefecture of Hokkaido Prefecture. It has an area of 3936.08 km ² and a population of 456,300 (as of 31 August 2005).
Geography
The sub-prefecture Oshima extends across the eastern part of the Oshima peninsula - the western part belongs to the sub-prefecture Hiyama.
History
The sub-prefecture Oshima (渡 岛 支 庁, Oshima- shicho ) was established in 1897.
In the reorganization of Hokkaidō April 1, 2010 it was renamed in Oshima - sogo - Shinko - kyoku.

Reclassifications
- On 1 December 2004, the towns in the district Minamikayabe Kayabe, Esan and Toi and the village Todohokke ever incorporated in the district Kameda in the big city Hakodate.
- On 1 April 2005, the cities of Sawara and Mori joined in the district Kayabe together for new city Mori.
- On 1 October 2005, the cities Kumaishi Yamakoshi included in the district of Nishi in the sub-prefecture Hiyama and Yakumo in the district of the new city Yakumo also in the newly created district Futami together. The urban area of Kumaishi was thereby added to the sub-prefecture Oshima.
- On 1 February 2006, the cities Kamiiso Hokuto included in the district Kamiiso and Ōno district Kameda together to the new city.
