History

The place name " Oßling " comes from the Sorbian language of Wosling, which means as much as Steinberg. The name would seem to be the Oßlinger mountain that in early periods greywacke was dismantled. After the Congress of Vienna came Oßling as large parts of Lusatia to Prussia in 1815, but in 1818 was again the Kingdom of Saxony assigned. Since 1896, the district Lieske belongs to the municipality. In 1994, the United Oßling community was formed in the wake of the Saxon government reform.

The district Trado was first mentioned in 1374 as Matei Tradow. The name probably derives from the Sorbian tradacz and means as much as "deficiency". The district Skaska found his first documentary mention 1383rd The district was first Döbra as Dobry ( which translates as " good" means ) mentioned in records in 1374. In 1992, traces of settlement from the Late Bronze Age ( 1000-800 BC), found south of Döbra. The district Liebegast was first documented in 1408. The name is due to the local founder Lubogost. Later the name was Germanized to love guest. It was incorporated by Sollschwitz ( Kr Hoyerswerda ) on 1 July 1950. On 1 January 1994, the OT Sollschwitz was spun off and incorporated into the parish Oßling. The formerly independent municipalities Döbra, Skaska and Trado joined on 1 January 1969 on community - Skaska Döbra together, this was incorporated by Oßling on 1 January 1994.

Even 1884/85 all of today's districts were mostly influenced Sorbian, where they were located at the outer edge of the core settlement area. Oßling itself was inhabited 56%, Döbra and Skaska to 82%, Weißig to 83%, Lieske to 92%, 93% and Milstrich Trado exclusively of Sorbs. During the 20th century, the Sorbian language has largely disappeared from everyday life and just Milstrich is considered today one of the official settlement area.
