The Österdalälven is a North Swedish river, which flows from the Scandinavian Mountains to the Baltic Sea.

Geography

It is formed by the confluence of Storån and Sörälven at Idre in northwestern Dalarna, near the Norwegian border. After emerging from the lake Idresjön the current flows for a distance of about 230 kilometers to the southeast. At the upper reaches there are some lakes and artificial congestion. The river flows through the middle reaches of Lake Siljan. South of Gagnef he unites with the coming of the West Västerdal to Dalalven.

The Riksväg 70 follows with short breaks completely the course of the river.
