Österlen

Österlen is a region in southeastern Swedish province of Skåne. In general, the area east of the old land route between Ystad and Kristianstad is called Österlen. Some guide -wide this area from something else. The largest and only city in Österlen is Simrishamn.

Österlen is known for great scenery and historically interesting objects. So you can find here Stenshuvud National Park, Stone Age objects such as the Ales stones or the grave of Kivik and the medieval castle Glimmingehus.

Had many Swedish artists and have settled in sterlen, as they find plenty of inspiration for their works of art here. Every year at Easter is a so-called "art round " instead, in which the artists exhibit their works in the different villages.
