Ostium

As ostium (Latin for " input", plural ostia Ostia or ) is referred to in the anatomy of an opening of a hollow organ. The term is used for both junctions in another organ (such as the opening of the left ventricle to the aorta through - ostium aortae ) as well as openings to the outside world out (eg, the vaginal opening - ostium vaginae ).
