Otello Martelli

Otello Martelli ( born May 19, 1902 in Rome, † February 20, 2000 ) was an Italian cinematographer.

Life

Otello Martelli came at a very young age about the film and was after a short time working as a cinematographer. Several silent film melodramas followed by a period with newsreel and documentary work. From 1934, he went back to the entertainment movie. After the end of the Mussolini era and World War 2 Martelli was instrumental in the development of Italian filmmaking. In cooperation with the directors Giuseppe De Santis and Federico Fellini, he designed the photograph to international hits such as Bitter Rice and La Strada. After the end of his work behind the camera Martelli led even to old age a film production company.
