Otmar Hasler

Otmar Hasler ( born September 28, 1953 in Gamprin / Bendern ) was from 2001 to 2009 head of government of the Principality of Liechtenstein. He took over on April 5, 2001, the office of his predecessor Mario Frick. On 8 February 2009, he announced his resignation. On March 25, 2009, he was replaced by Minister.

Life

Otmar Hasler has studied at the University of Fribourg ( Switzerland ) and concluded with the secondary teaching certificate. From 1979 to 2001 he was a teacher at the secondary school Eschen ( Liechtenstein ) operates. Otmar Hasler is married to Traudi Hasler (born Hilti ) and father of four children. Prior to his election as head of government of the Principality of Liechtenstein Otmar Hasler has held various political offices and was among others 1989-2001 deputy in the Liechtenstein Parliament, the Landtag. He was also Vice-President of the Landtag (1994, 1996-2001 ) and President of the Parliament (1995). Between 1993 and 1995 he served as President beyond the Progressive Citizens' Party in Liechtenstein and since 1993 as a member of the Bureau.

On 5 April 2001 Otmar Hasler took over the affairs of predecessor Mario Frick ( Patriotic Union, VU), after the Progressive Citizens' Party could obtain in the Liechtenstein Parliament elections in February 2001 with a vote share of 49.9 percent 13 of 25 parliamentary seats. In the parliamentary elections of 11-13. March 2005 was able to achieve the highest percentage of votes the parties Progressive Citizens' Party Prime Minister Otmar Hasler despite loss of votes, but lost the absolute majority in parliament.

During his tenure from 2001 to 2005 Otmar Hasler had the government departments (comparable to ministries) Bureau, finance, construction and family and equality holds. In his second term, Prime Minister Otmar Hasler held the ministries Bureau, finance and construction. He was the head of government, set up in April 2005 coalition government of FBP and VU. Once in the regional elections on 8 February 2009, the VU was the strongest party, Otmar Hasler announced his resignation as head of government. New Prime Minister was on March 25, his former deputy Minister.

Otmar Hasler has dominated the political landscape in the Principality of Liechtenstein sustained with his personality. On 24 March 2009 he was awarded S.D. Prince Hans Adam II von und zu Liechtenstein for his services to the State of Liechtenstein the title " Princely Council ".
