Otmar Mácha

Otmar Macha ( born October 2, 1922 in Marianske Hory, † December 14, 2006 in Prague) was a Czech composer.

Life

Macha studied at the Prague Conservatory and was until 1948 a pupil of Jaroslav Řídký. From 1947 to 1962 he worked as musical director and director at the Czechoslovak Radio in Prague. After that, he lived as a freelance composer. In 1995 he founded with Zdeněk Lukáš, Sylvie Bodorová and Luboš Fišer the group of composers Quattro.

He composed five operas, two symphonies and two sinfoniettas, a symphonic poem, a symphonic intermezzo, Variations for Orchestra, chamber music, oratorio, three cantatas, piano pieces, choral works, film scores and songs.
