Otto IV, Count of Rietberg

Count Otto IV von Rietberg ( † 5 / January 6, 1553 in front of Metz) was 1535-1552 Count of Rietberg.

Otto IV was the eldest son of Otto III. and his first wife Anna born of Sayn. In the marriage contract of the two was determined that the first-born cleric should be. The contract was so placed that the elders could also count, if he so wished. Therefore, there have been many arguments between Otto IV and his half-brother Johann II of the second marriage of the father.

Prior to February 1, 1541 married Katharina Otto IV of the Rhine. 1541 Otto IV was under British pay, and returned back in 1544 and participated in the staff of the German masters. In his absence, the county was managed by 1538-48 by a Hessian bailiff. After Hessian model Otto IV led the Lutheran church order in the county. Otto IV died childless on 5 or 6 January 1553 before Metz. First, a cousin, Friedrich Wetter, trustee of the assets was to finally Otto IV 's half-brother John II became the successor of the county.

Otto IV was buried in the Franciscan monastery in Rietberg.
