Otto Stobbe

Otto Stobbe ( born June 28, 1831 in Königsberg in Prussia, † May 19 1887 in Leipzig ) was a German university teacher of civil law and canon law.

Life

As the son of Königsberg girls school teacher Johann Gottlieb Stobbe visited Otto Stobbe from Easter 1840, the old-urban high school (Königsberg ). After high school, March 21, 1849, he enrolled at the Albertus University of Königsberg of Philology. On 22 December the same year, he joined the law.

Prepared by Friedrich Daniel Sanio and John Merkel, he received his doctorate on March 18, 1858 Dr. iur .. From 7 May 1853, he studied at the University of Leipzig, where he was a tutor in Wilhelm Eduard Albrecht. In May 1854 he moved to the Georg -August- University Göttingen Georg Waitz.

He returned in January 1855 returned to Königsberg and habilitated at the Albertina. After a short time as a lecturer he was on February 20, 1856 ao Professor and already on 3 December of the same year or the professor for German.

In the fall of 1859 he moved to the Chair of the Silesian Friedrich Wilhelm University in Breslau. For the academic year 1869 /70 and 1870/71 - the time of the German Empire - he was elected rector.

Easter 1872 he finally went as a professor of German and canon law at the University of Leipzig. 1875/76 and 1883/84, he was Dean of the Law Faculty. 1878/79 he was again rector.

Family

On August 7, 1862 Stobbe Maria Carlotta married Margarethe Eberty (* December 27, 1842 Kunnersdorf / near Hirschberg, † March 3, 1902 in Leipzig), the second oldest daughter of Mr Felix Eberty friend and his wife Marie Amalie Catharina nee Hasse ( * 21. Barottwitz in May 1822 in Breslau, † 1887 in Arnsdorf near Hirschberg ). From this marriage several children were born. A daughter died before her father.
