Otto Walter

Otto Walter ( born September 22, 1882 in Vienna, † February 15, 1965 in Parsch ) was an Austrian classical archaeologist.

The student Emil Reisch was from 1908 to 1938 Employees, then Director of the Austrian Archaeological Institute, Athens. After the annexation of Austria to 1945 he was secretary of the additional 2 Athens Branch of the Archaeological Institute of the German Reich. In 1945 he was appointed Honorary Professor at the University of Vienna in 1948 professor in Innsbruck, from 1951 until his retirement in 1953, Walter was the successor Camillo Praschnikers professor in Vienna and together with Josef Keil Director of the Austrian Archaeological Institute ( ÖAI ).

In his time at Athens ÖAI Walter sat from 1911 to 1914, the excavations continued in Elis and founded with two campaigns in 1916 and 1925, the Austrian excavations in Aigeira.
