Ouazebas

Ouazebas was a king of Axum, who reigned in the late 4th century AD.

Ouazebas is known only from his coins. Some of them were among the largest of the stelae in Axum, and it has therefore been suggested that these overturned under Ouazebas. The motto TOYTOAPECHTHXWPA appears on his coins - " May this please the people." This desire also appears on coins of Ezana. Some of his coins are partly gilded, which is a typical feature axumitischer coins. This seems not to be done in order to give them a higher value, but possibly in order to refine the image of the ruler.
