Oulanka National Park
Oulanka National Park is a national park in Kuusamo in north- eastern Finland.
Geography
The river flows through Oulankajoki the park in west-east direction. To the east of the park adjacent to Russia with the National Park Paanajärvi.
History
It was founded in 1956 and expanded in 1982 and 1989. Today, it covers 270 km ².
2,000 ha of the core zone of the national park were certified as so-called " PAN Parks Wilderness Area " and belong to the Network of European Wildlife sanctuaries.
Leisure
The Oulanka is one of the most popular and most visited national parks in Finland. The Oulankajoki is ideal for multi-day canoe trips and rafting trips. Most interested parties come to the visitor center in the valley of Oulankajoki, many hikers make one-or multi-day hikes on the trail of the bear round.
