The Oyashio class (Japaneseおやしお型潜水艦, Oyashio Gatasensuikan ) is a class of eleven hunting submarines of the Japanese sea Self-Defense Forces ( JMSDF ).
It is in service and larger than the previous Harushio class since the late 1990s. This in order to create space for a side scan sonar antennas.
