Ozark Jubilee was the first transmitted from a major U.S. network prime-time television show with country music.

History

A local precursor was from Ely E. Siman in Springfield (Missouri ) launched in 1953 to life. On January 22, 1955, the show was first aired on ABC nationally televised. The transfer from the Springfield Jewell theater usually took an hour from mid-1955 for a year 90 minutes. Moderator was the renowned country artist Red Foley. After Foley had to appear in court for tax evasion, the show was set in September 1960.

The Ozark Jubilee mediated first time a US-wide television audience also a visual impression of contemporary country music. For many previously only regionally known musicians presented the show a major career springboard dar. Brenda Lee, Porter Wagoner, Wanda Jackson and others were here for the first time known to a wide audience.
