Pablo Javier Zabaleta Girod (born 16 January 1985 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine footballer who plays in the Premier League club Manchester City is under contract since 2008 and previously played for clubs CA San Lorenzo and Espanyol.

Career

In the club

At twelve, he signed a contract with the Argentine top club San Lorenzo, where he went through all the youth teams. He was initially set up as a defensive midfielder, before moving to the right midfield and right-back.

Followed in 2005 with Espanyol switching to a European club, having previously led the Argentine U-20 national team at the 2005 World Cup as captain to the title.

With Espanyol he succeeded in his first season by winning the Copa del Rey equal a great success. Also the following year was very successful. Only in the final of the UEFA Cup was defeated Espanyol on penalties in the country men from FC Sevilla.

For the season 2008/ 09 he moved for about 8.7 million euros to Manchester City in the Premier League.

Zabaleta has a Spanish passport, although he still competes internationally for Argentina.

In the National Team

Pablo Zabaleta took part in both the FIFA U -20 World Championship in 2003 and 2005, where he won with Argentina in 2005. For the senior team, he played two friendly matches so far.

In 2008, he won the Argentine selection, the Olympic football tournament in Beijing.
