Pacifica Radio

Pacifica Radio is the oldest non-commercial radio network in the United States. It is a group of five independent radio stations, which are known for their progressive political orientation.

The network is operated by the Pacifica Foundation headquartered next to the station KPFA in Berkeley, California.

Pacifica Radio serves more than 100 affiliated stations with various radio programs. Among the most popular productions include the political magazine Democracy Now and Free Speech Radio News ( FSRN ).

Pacifica was established in 1946 by pacifist Lewis Hill to life. During the Second World War Hill was objectors. After the war, Hill founded together with other former conscientious objectors the Pacifica Foundation. The first live broadcast took place in 1949 at KPFA in Berkeley instead.
