Padang Besar ( ปา ดัง เบ ซาร์ ) is a border town on the border between Thailand and Malaysia in the district ( Amphoe ) Sadao, Songkhla province, southern Thailand. Since 2004, Padang Besar has a city - state ( thesaban Mueang ) and consists of parts of the community ( tambon) Padang Besar. In 2007, the city had a population of 13,748.

History

Padang Besar was founded in 1967 initially as a sanitary district ( Sukhaphiban - สุขาภิบาล ) was established. Like all sanitary districts, she was promoted to a small town ( thesaban tambon) 1999. The climb to a city ( Mueang thesaban ) was validly on 8 November 2004.
