Paddy DeMarco

Paddy DeMarco ( born February 10, 1928 in Brooklyn, † December 13, 1997 in Salt Lake City ) was an American boxer in the lightweight. DeMarco From March bis November 1954 world champion in the lightweight.

DeMarco won his first pro fight in March 1945 against Sal Vigo on points. In the same year DeMarco won four more fights, but lost for the first time against Charles Butch in October of the same year. Despite the defeat DeMarco boxed continue and reach September 1949 a total of 32 wins and two defeats. On September 10, 1949 DeMarco fought against the legendary boxer Willie Pep, whose Kampfstatisik at the time was incredible 131 victories in a defeat and a draw. DeMarco lost in a unanimous decision in ten rounds. On March 5, 1954, he won the world title at lightweight against Jimmy Carter and kept it until November 17, 1954, when he lost to Jimmy Carter by technical knockout. DeMarco last fight took place on November 3, 1959 in Fresno against Benny Medina instead.
