Pádraic Ó Conaire

Pádraic Ó Conaire ( born February 20, 1882 in Galway, † October 6, 1928 in Dublin) was an Irish writer and journalist who wrote in Irish.

Life

Pádraic Ó Conaire came from the Irish-speaking Gaeltacht part of the Irish West and grew up in his uncle's house in Ros Muc on, Connemara, County Galway. He mainly wrote about the life experiences of ethnic Irish, unlettered workers / inside, who worked in the UK at the beginning of the 20th century. He lived from 1899 until his return to Ireland in 1914 with his family in London.

He has many collections of short stories, including Scothscéalta and Nora Mharcais Bhig ( 1906). Some of these were very controversial in the then highly conservative and dominated by the Catholic Church Society of Ireland. In addition, two novels, Deoraíocht (1910) and Fearfeasa Mac Feasa (1930 ), published by that.

He was married to Molly Ní Mhanais and had with her four children. On his return to Ireland, however, he left his family back in London; he then lived mostly in Galway. He was an alcoholic and died in great poverty in a hospital in Dublin in 1928.
