Pak Ui-chun

Pak Ui -chun (* 1932) is a North Korean diplomat and politician and currently Minister of Foreign Affairs of his country in the Cabinet Pak Pong -ju II

Pak began his diplomatic career as ambassador to Cameroon. Then he led the North Korean missions in Algeria, Syria and Lebanon. Most recently, he was from 1998 to August 2006, North Korea's ambassador in Moscow. He is also a member of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly since 1998. On 18 May 2007, he was employed by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly as the new foreign minister. Since the death of his predecessor, Paek Nam -sun in early January 2007, the post was vacant. Pak's appointment as foreign minister is seen as a sign of a greater interest of the internationally largely isolated North Korean regime with Russia.
