Paktia Province

Paktia ( Dari and Pashtun پکتیا ) is a province ( velayat ) in southeastern Afghanistan on the border with Pakistan. It has 550 400 inhabitants and is mainly inhabited by Pashtuns. To Paktia province originally counted including the area around Khost. The result was a separate province of Khost.

History

Paktia played a very important and crucial role in the existence question of Afghanistan frequently. Due to the outstanding achievements in the fight against the British ( Anglo - Afghan War ) and after the seizure of power by Habibullah Kalakani Paktia received a privileged status and was with military titles of honor, property, consultant roles, gifts of money and other perks such as tax exemption and exemption from military service, some of which to this day still valid, rewarded.
